…..or is it we scream over ice scream, from ice cream or about wanting ice cream.
What kid doesn’t like ice cream?
Well except for me, but I have definitely grown to love it over the years
and my stink working at the ice cream shop in Ft. Lauderdale during college
definitely helped secure my love for mint chocolate chip on a waffle cone.
Trying out new fabulous ice cream spots is so awesome when your a kid
but I don’t know if it can top our local coffee shop offering up 25 cent cones
in anticipation of Hurricane Isaac and my kiddos are a bunch of happy campers on a sugar high.
Maybe that isn’t such a great idea when I’m about to have 4 kids cooped up inside
for two days possibly without power or a way for me to cry for help!
Please grant me the patients of Mother Theresa to get us through.
Yes I’m 2 days early! But if you don’t here from me for a few days we may be without electricity from the storm or packing up to move again, crazy times in Alabama!
So much has been going on lately and soon big decisions need to be made, have you ever felt like the universe was forcing you somewhere and as hard as you try to fight, it’s a loosing battle? And with all my extra time you’d think I could discover the cure to some deadly disease or world hunger. (Update: we are still without having internet which 6 out of 7 the providers is the house is unserviceable, really in 2012 in a populated town on a busy street it’s seems crazy). Sigh!
I am so thankful for our local coffee shop and bookstore so I can continue to join everyone on Scavenger Hunt Sundays!
Our first school bus sighting of the year.
Rule of Thirds
We love art museums!!!!!!
I love those chubby cheeks on my friends little girl and I was so happy to finally get to meet this cutie and what her take some of her first steps!
My sweet little girl made up a song for me using her small pink Barbie guitar and was so excited to have me listen, it was wonderful!
Almost lost my lunch trying to capture this moment, think I might be dizzy for a while.
I spent my childhood afraid of riding the a boat at the base of Niagara Falls I finally had the courage to hope aboard the Maid of the Mist and see one of the most beautiful sights up close with the kiddos and my parents, turns out my it was my Dad’s first time too! It was so nice to be showered by the mist of the great Niagara in the 95 degree heat that day. I loved growing up near the falls and I enjoy bringing my kids back every year.
This was my favorite shot of the day, maybe next time we’ll brave the Cave of the Winds like Marilyn Monroe did in the movie Niagara.
I almost didn’t make this weeks scavenger hunt, it’s been 4 weeks without internet and they said maybe another 3 weeks before it’s finally fixed. I am so behind being unplugged makes my days harder and lucky for us we homeschool so I can push the first day of school back a couple weeks since a lot of the studies involve the computer.
The kiddos having races through the forest of flags on display at a local park.
I was testing out the morning light in my new home studio when Eco came in and wrapped herself in my hammock and started making silly faces.
Eco may love her oldest sister but she rarely wants her to touch her so when Luna spotted an opportunity she did a surprise hug from behind, too cute.
Newspapers at least around here will no longer be a daily part of our lives and with the reduction of staff and closing of many daily’s all across the country I highly recommend taking the kids to watch the newspaper being printed, the kids had so much fun!
Coffee & Tea
Vintage coffee can, that’s the best I could do on that on.
We finally made in back home from our vacation and the first thing we did was soak up some of the gorgeous sunshine stopped by Battleship Park to have some high flying fun running through the flags at the Field of Valor on display.
I spotted this rare and wonderfully sweet moment between my two youngest.
I love long hair but beginning to think my children are in need of some haircuts, they keep coming out looking like the offspring of cousin It in our photos lately.
It’s been 2 weeks since I’ve had internet service and for a photographer it seems like eternity, I’ve only been able to blog twice a week from friends computers, I really hope they figure out what’s wrong with the line so I can share all our vacation photos!
My son hand picked these from my friends garden, I think they almost look to pretty to eat. Several people thought he was carrying around Easter eggs and not potatoes?
Hanging by a Thread
Saw this little guy holding on for dear life to a crepe myrtle blossom bud or maybe he was just showing off.
Kids jumping on the trampoline, I love watching while I lay on the ground underneath.
(made the collage using photo mechanic and screen capture)
Always Look on the Bright Side
The Mississippi gulf coast is so gorgeous!
Finally visited Biloxi, MS I hadn’t been back since Hurricane Katrina and I watch the sailboats head out. What a beautiful place, they have recovered well, though I do miss all the historic that were destroyed from the flood waters.
Sometimes my son can be a bit hard headed, so telling him there isn’t snow in August when we go back home to visit doesn’t mean you won’t be seeing him carrying skis all around town looking for some.
We’ve had quite a week in between visiting family and friends we even found
time to enjoy the some simple fun like riding bikes, jump on trampolines
and playing at the park. There was even some lazy summer days at the farm, the kiddos really
enjoyed gathering up goodies for dinner. Two of my high school friends have quite the green
thumbs and grow some of the best tomatoes, potatoes and carrots we’ve ever had!
But it’s time to head back home tomorrow, I can’t wait to go through all the photos
especially the ones from the road, Niagara Falls, the art gallery, the awesome ice cream shoppe,
and our 3 days on the farm, we had a blast!
(playground fun during our second day in New York)
(tomatoes fresh from the garden and were just perfect on last night homemade pizza)
(trampoline jumping on the farm before the storm while I got totally soaked in dog slobber lying on the ground taking photos)
And a BIG Happy Birthday to my Mom today, glad we could spend it with her!
