I have so many food allergies that these were the first donuts I’ve had in 20 years! I use to
work at a doughnut shoppe back then and the chocolate glazed were my favorite along with
sour cream glazed, can’t wait to make those next!
Chocolate Donut recipe:
8 tbsp butter (1 stick)
3/4 cup 66% (or more) cacao powder
2 cups organic flour
1 cup sugar
2 tbsp molasses
1/4 cup organic honey
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 extra large eggs or 3 large eggs
1 3/4 cups plain greek yogurt
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
Fully incorporate the dry ingredients with the butter in your stand
mixer, then add wet ingredients. I usually add the eggs last.
Bake at 360 degrees for 10-12 minutes in a non-stick donut pans or
the toothpick comes out clean,
I removed the donuts from the pan still hot onto a cooling rack and
immediately glaze or top with powdered sugar, my favorite was our
homemade chocolate frosting with sprinkles.
Chocolate frosting ingredients:
( Sorry. I don’t measure just mix until it looks taste good)
These stay really moist for several days on the counter if they last that long!
If you prefer vanilla, just take out the cacao and add vanilla extract to the recipe we just made some and they taste awesome covered with powdered sugar!
Also this recipe works well fas a cakes too, I use three eggs instead of two for a 9×12 cake.
What happens when you spend 3 weeks in Alabama with no kids, TV and limited internet and a slew of photo sessions?
The car will break down the day your to head back home, you shoot over 5000 frames on your camera to which none of them are of your own kids, and cooking? what’s that!? All your free time is spent walking around in the 80 degree temps and sunshine wishing for snow to fall before you melt and best of all you forget all about posting to your blog or that you even have one.
Here’s a few random Instagram pix until I dig myself out of editing photos and find some new ones of my kiddos, there’s an awesome one of Zen still sitting on a compact flash card I have to share soon.
this might have been a rare sighting in Alabama but our lawn in NY has plenty of dandelions to go around….salad anyone?
fresh from our garden, the smell in divine!
My kiddos first pay phone sighting…somewhere in Kentucky.
Too bad we didn’t have any loose change on us.

Really trying to make the most of our first winter, the snow is definitely beautiful to look at.
The best way to quite our house down is with a bowl of homemade ice cream.

In the Kitchen
So glad I’m finished with the kitchen remodel, don’t know if I’ll ever take on painting cabinets again.
Love this iphone pic as we drove through Ohio.

I’ve been on a little work vacation in the sunny south for the past week and definitely needed the vitamin D along with some friend time and seeing some of my favorite clients. I’ll have so many photos to post when we finally get back in a couple weeks, let’s just hope the snow is gone up there by then, I’m really enjoying this spring weather!
