Storelli facing soccer’s biggest issue Head-on!

Even a friendly game between sisters requires some protection, it’s all fun and games, so lets not get hurt!
This post is sponsored by Storelli, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own. Note: The Exoshield HeadGuard was specifically designed to provide protection against impact to the head and to reduce the incidence of cuts and bruises to covered areas. Although third-party testing confirms that the Exoshield HeadGuard significantly reduces the force of impact to covered areas, there is no conclusive data showing that the ExoShield HeadGuard prevents concussions, which can result from a combination of factors including, direct impact to the head.

We really love the Storelli ExoShield Head Guard, the girls can still wear their favorite hair styles while playing and protecting themselves.

Okay I think their friendly game just turned into a bunch of fun with no rules. Okay not quite a game of soccer but at least they’re protected!

But what a beautiful sunset we had as the fun ended and it was time to head back home to finish our Thanksgiving holiday.

Game Day Recipe: Bacon Wrapped Taco Boat Bites

Who doesn’t like finger food wrapped in bacon? This is one Game Day recipe your guest will love!
We like to stock up on at Walmart with some pantry essentials, and when I say that, I of course mean Old El Paso Taco Boats and kits. They are a great start to any snack, dinner or dessert. The mini soft taco boats are my favorite and a Game Day recipe right up there in the top 5.
It’s a pretty simple recipe, the base of the tacos being refried beans, meat (we use vegetarian crumbles) and brown rice, with taco or fajita seasoning cooked in a skillet, then scooped into the Old El Paso mini soft taco boats, topped with you choice of cheese, wrapped all the filled boats nice and pretty in a strip of uncooked bacon.
I glazed some of them with my homemade barbecue sauce.
Bake for 25-30 minutes at 400 degrees
or until the bacon is fully cooked.
If you’re like us, we can’t seem to buy enough barbecue sauce, so out of necessity I created my own recipe.
Now this is all to taste so adjust the amount of each ingredient to you liking.
homemade barbecue sauce:
3 tablespoons Ketchup
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon molasses
1 tablespoon apple vinegar
You can serve these simple on a large platter as a yummy finger food or with a bed of romain lettuce and some sour cream to dress up your guest’s plates, if you’re having a more formal gathering. Either way, they’ll be gone fast!

School Memories and Photo Overload with Make My Book

Our latest Shutterfly photo book came in the mail! This is the biggest one yet, 45 glorious pages of color photos. I never get my kids yearbooks since I had taken a lot of photos being classroom photographer for both of my elementary age kids. But the beauty was in seeing all their school friends in on place and preserving the memories which are so very important. So I decided to make our own yearbook (I’m bias but it’s probably way better than the school issued one), this one is filled with only images of my kids classroom pals, field trips and holiday activities. It has pages upon pages of fun and friends!

The hardest part of this whole thing was remembering my Shutterfly password, using, I create a photo book through the Make My Book Service , I couldn’t believe how easy it was, saved me so much time I don’t have to spare, and out came a professional quality photo book!
This is awesome foe anyone and could be a gift for someone or just treat to yourself, mine was a surprise for my kids

I’ve already blabbed about how awesome and easy the Make My Book™ process was, their photo placement and layouts were near perfect, edited out a few photos and only made minor adjustment to make a picture perfect book!

They’re starting to stack up! I just love looking through each books and sharing them with our guests, isn’t that what everyone wants to do?! How many have you made? I have a friend with 15 Shutterfly photo books, makes my 4 books look a little lonely in comparison.

So many silly memories all wrapped up in one pretty package!

Make My Book Service, was so quick I received my book in 3 days!!

I’m was so excited to have a professional designer make a beautiful book for me after years of trying to lay them out myself, like me most moms struggle to find time to sleep and eat let alone try and layout a 200+ images in a 45 page photo book like mine.

Pumpkin Bowls with Vegetable Soup + Giveaway!

We are crazy for pumpkins, and nothing can make this time of year any better than combining two of my autumn favorites into one, and serving up soup in colorful Pumpkin Soup Bowls!
Making the bowls is really easy, kind of like making a jack-o-lantern but without the face. Cut and empty the pumpkin, then place on a baking sheet in the oven at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes. Poor the soup right into the hot pumpkin and bake for another 5-7 minutes, just long enough to heat up your favorite variety of Good Natured Soup. Give it a stir and start eating right from the pumpkin bowl!

There’s nothing like cool crisp Fall air and a warm bowl of
Good Natured Soup’s Hearty Tomato, as I rock on the porch watching the colorful leaves fall in the yard.
The Hearty Tomato with Spinach and Roasted Garlic which includes diced tomatoes, carrots, celery, spinach, onions, red bell peppers, navy bean powder and seasoned with basil, sea salt, garlic, onion powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, fennel seed thyme and rosemary is bursting with flavor.
The Hearty Lentil with Garden Vegetables that combines fire roasted carrots, tomato paste, roasted onions, green lentils, roasted red bell peppers, green sweet peppers, celery and black bean powder and seasoned with sea salt, onion powder, roasted garlic, smoked paprika, and organic thyme, cumin and cayenne pepper powder.
Their Hearty Corn and Chipotle Chowder soup combines corn, red bell peppers, and Pinto bean powder to make the soup rich and creamy and it’s seasoned with a touch of garlic, sea salt, chipotle pepper puree and spoked paprika.

Good Nature Soups new from Progresso™  are available in three hearty vegetable soup flavors, Hearty Corn and Chipotle Chowder; Hearty Tomato with Spinach and Roasted Garlic; and Hearty Lentil with Garden Vegetables, good to know that each serving has ¾ cups of vegetables, with a house full of vegetarians, the more veggies the better!

Mini Caramel Apple Pie Taco Boats

Take game day to the next level, and when I say next level I mean desert! Old El Paso is so much more than tacos, the recipes are endless, though a soft taco is top on our list, but I think I scored big with this one, and might have found a new favorite with my mini soft taco boat Caramel Apple Pie recipe! The Old El Paso mini taco boats were at our local Walmart and they are the perfect size dessert to make for our up coming party.
We like to call them simply mini Apple Pie boats.
The recipe is so easy and quick to make for game day or any get together.
one package of Old El Paso mini soft taco boats (contains 12 mini taco boats)
one 15 ounce can of caramel apple pie filling
1 cup cooking oil (only for coating taco boats, you will not use it all)
1 cup granulated white sugar
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
 for crumb topping:
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup flour
1/4 stick of salted butter
1/8 cup quick oats

1. coat the Old El Paso mini soft taco boats with cooking oil (we used a canola and olive oil blend).
2. cover it in the cinnamon sugar mixture
3. place on greased baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes
4. immediately fill each boat with the prepared Caramel Apple pie filling
(I used one can of 15 ounce caramel apple pie filling)
5. cover with crumble topping mixture (flour, sugar, cinnamon, butter and quick oats)
6. back in the oven at 375 degrees for 20 minutes
7. remove from oven and serve

We like them served up with a scoop of ice cream and some football.

I’ve even made an apple pie lover out of my hard to please southern belle and devoted cake eater.

Happy Game Day y’all!

Halloween Costumes of Years Past

Looking back at through old Halloween photos is always fun. I love making the kids costumes and sometime they make their own, we all trick or treat together and now that they’re older and I can’t sneak chocolate out of their treat bags, I have to dress up and go door to door, to get my chocolate fix. Last year I was a VooDoo doll, this year Mexican wrestler.

Look how cute my little knight was guarding his princess from the dragon.

Homemade bat girl and Newsie, she was able to stuff a lot of candy in that newspaper carrier bag.

Homemade pie and rain cloud, left me with no finger prints, I could have stolen candy out of their treat bags that year and gone undetected.

Quick and Easy Poached Eggs in Tomato Sauce with Feta Recipe (Shakshouka)

If you need a quick yet delicious meal in under 30 minutes, Shakshouka is a very traditional dish, perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Just simply a few pouch eggs over tomato sauce and topped with cheese. It goes great with pita, tortilla chips or mini toast squares to scoop up every bit of Bertolli sauce.
Heat Bertolli sauce in a large saucepan over medium heat or 6 minutes in the microwave, stirring occasionally. I chose the Bertolli five cheese and the Bertolli tomato & basil sauces for my Shakshouka. (My kids were so enamored with the sauce!)
Pour the sauce into a baking dish or you can used a pan that goes from stovetop to oven.
Now crack the eggs onto the tomato sauce, then cover the pan with a lid of tinfoil tent and bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Top with feta cheese, basil, paprika, black pepper and oregano to taste.

In a cooking world full of complexity, Bertolli savors simplicity with their Tuscan Way of cooking. I no longer have to stand over a hot stove for 3-4 hours perfecting a sauce, when it takes a few seconds to open up Bertolli’s bold taste made with a few key ingredients + layers of flavor.

“Thank you to Bertolli for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring me to celebrate. Viva Bertolli!”
