Fall cleaning with kids, a dog, and our new Wonder Mop! + Sweepstakes

Something about opening the windows brings out my cleaning gene, which has been hibernating over the long hot summer. We picked up some new Libman Company brooms and their Wonder Mop, at Walmart, highly recommended by a friend for how easy it is to use and machine washable too! Even before that the kids had picked it out since it was such a pretty patterned and my favorite color.

Tackling the spiral staircase is dizzying, walking up them even more. Meanwhile I managed to spill my cereal, and I had the cutest little helper named Kimmy assist in cleaning up the mess, you watch her clean up skills on Instagram HERE.

Dachshund Sunset

Yes, this happened!
You have some free time on a Saturday, the kids want another pet, so you find yourself at the county animal shelter.
Those big brown eyes won’t stop staring up at you, the kids ask to pet her, and a few days later you are a Dachshund mom.
There’s no changing your mind, her Instagram account already has followers, even before the kids decide on a name.

Check out more pics of the very lovable Kimmy HERE.

Fuel the Knowledge with Pepperidge Farms Goldfish

How did I to get two teenagers to study over spring break?

Almost the same as when I’d ask them to pick up their toys as a toddler, Pepperidge Farms Goldfish crackers and a walk outside to watch the sunset.

There’s no way around studying, less than 2 weeks before the 4 hour long test, kind of glad it wasn’t need when I was in high school, wish I had an older sister to help me with school work and grew up in such a beautiful place with sand instead of snow.
But I can’t imagine how many more freckles I might have had, if there was this much sunlight my hometown of Buffalo.

As the kids get older it seems like things can get all the more crazier, and once the warm weather hits, which is right now, the kids are often struck by spring fever. Our solution is simple!

Fresh air, sunshine and fuel for our knowledge is key to happiness!
Well not sure about everywhere, but here in lower Alabama on the Eastern Shore, we revel in its ceaseless beauty.

Chinese New Year Parade: Year of the Rooster

We live in a small community full of big hearts and fun spirits. I’ve lived here almost 2 decades and try never to miss a Chinese New Year Parade, this was their 21st year of celebrating bringing together families through adoption. Children not only from China but other countries parade to wish everyone luck, happiness and good health in the new year.

Chinese New Year 2017 begins a year of the Rooster. Though it’s considered a bad year for “Roosters”: people born in a Rooster year and they must take take precautions to avoid misfortune.

Year Of the Dragon Fun HERE:

Martin Luther King, Jr., Remembered.

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of “interposition” and “nullification” — one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today!

-Martin Luther King, Jr.

We joined in on the MLK Day events, walking with hundreds down Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and visiting the Africatown museum along with a stop at the Old Plateau Cemetery, known as the Africatown graveyard which is the final resting place of enslaved Africans, African-Americans, and a Buffalo Soldier.

The Africatown burial ground dates back to 1876, sixteen years after Africans arrived on the Clotilda which was one of the last documented slave ships to leave Africa for the Americas. The northern area of the graveyard is the older section where the remains of Clotilda survivors have been found through an archaeological preservation project directed by the College of William and Mary. The historic annals of Africatown are chiseled upon tombstones in this graveyard.

We love are state of Alabama, and it is definitely better off than back in the 1960’s, but we still have a ways to go to heal this country and be united.

Halloween Costumes of Years Past

Looking back at through old Halloween photos is always fun. I love making the kids costumes and sometime they make their own, we all trick or treat together and now that they’re older and I can’t sneak chocolate out of their treat bags, I have to dress up and go door to door, to get my chocolate fix. Last year I was a VooDoo doll, this year Mexican wrestler.

Look how cute my little knight was guarding his princess from the dragon.

Homemade bat girl and Newsie, she was able to stuff a lot of candy in that newspaper carrier bag.

Homemade pie and rain cloud, left me with no finger prints, I could have stolen candy out of their treat bags that year and gone undetected.

Rolling with confidence!

There comes a time when handing the kids a baby wipe is just not cool, but either is a mud covered kid dripping in sweat wanting to get in the car, I love that there’s an option for my tweens and teens that won’t embarrass them. We started keeping the Cottonelle FreshCare Flushable Cleansing Cloths on hand after my mother gave us a package (that’s probably code for my kids are messy), she’s been using them at home and in the gym, now Cottonelle FreshCare are a must have for us, playing sports in 100% humidity, and 95 degree weather is the recipe for one stinky kid, the wipes help keep everyone fresh until they hit the showers.

Cottonelle® with CleanRipple® Texture to really gets the grim off my kids but still gentle enough for my extra sensitive ones!  And even better is the new Rigid flip top, it’s much easier to open with on hand and a big help keeping the package closed and the wipes wet! If you aren’t already, being a member of Sam’s Club gets you some pretty awesome product first before they ever make it to the smaller stores,  Sam’s Club is where I get my Cottonelle, there’s no running out of them at our house. So next time don’t just wipe when you can wash with Cottonelle Fresh Care Flushable Cleansing Cloths, and experience a more confident clean!

I was a long evening of roller skating practice, she’s trying so hard to be ready for the school skating field trips, building up confidence is the key to success, even roller skating!

Today’s post is sponsored by brand, by my love for their FreshCare Flushable Cloths are all my own!”
