Our family loves to travel, but with a menagerie of pets we have to limit our adventures to day-tripping around. We enjoy sightseeing, visiting art museum, music festivals, and we’re big on history!
Jackson, Mississippi met all our criteria and them some. Known as the City with Soul, Jackson has tons of amazing history and has everything from arts to the music scene, museum and culinary arts!
All we pack in a cooler of drink for the ride, so we have a big appetite to sample all the local food.
Jackson has such a mix of culture and the architecture, it’s a real gem of the south and lucky for us we can visit again and again. Next time it won’t be on Christmas Eve and we can explore the many museums. Jackson’s Museum of Natural Science with it’s 2 headed snake is first on our list.
The Mississippi State Capitol Building is just amazing!
Remember to big a camera, from the buildings to the birds, there’s something to capture around every turn.
Jackson has wonderful videos showing what this great city has to offer and to get started on planning your future visit! HERE

We couldn’t leave the city without sinking our teeth into one of these delicious gourmet apples at Mister Apple!!
New Orleans doesn’t disappoint when it comes to great food. So after working up an appetite wondering through the
aquarium and insectarium we feasted on one of these giant treats.
OH MY! Does that say cheesecake apple…seriously they’re like a meal, the kiddos couldn’t even finish one between the 4 of them.
We left a lot of nose prints on they’re windows, it was fun to watch them hand dip each apple.
Mister Apple is a must if your in New Orleans, just a few steps away from the aquarium and the riverboats.
Spent Christmas Eve Eve and Christmas Eve day on the road but we made it to our new home
just in time to celebrate this festive holiday with friends and family and our new neighbors
who brought over a plate full of delicious cookies as soon as we walk in our front door!!
The snow is falling almost as fast as my kids on ice skates!!!!
21 years ago I stopped in this same place and took a photo of this very train
somewhere in ohio

I love Ronald McDonald even though this was the first time the kiddos have ever been in the inside of a McDonald’s restaurant and we didn’t actually buy anything to eat just spent time looking around while we waited for the traffic to move along on day 2 of our road trip. I remember playing on these characters as a child and ate many hamburgers back them before I became a vegetarian but even better than their cheesburgers is what the Ronald McDonald Charities do for families/kids all around the country and I hope to continue to do what I can to help them in the future through my photography and fundraisers.
